About this experience

Instructor(s)/Curriculum:
  • All instructors are CCL certified by the Illinois State Police
  • The course is taught under the curriculum of Tombstone Gun Range which has been approved by the Illinois State Police
Tombstone Training Requirements: 
  • NO FIREARMS OR LIVE AMMO ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM UNTIL DIRECTED BY TOMBSTONE LEAD INSTRUCTOR
  • ​Applicants must complete 16 hours of training, including firearm safety, principles of marksmanship, care and cleaning of firearms, and instruction on lawful and appropriate interaction with law enforcement while carrying or transporting a firearm.
  • Training requirement shall include live fire exercise of at least 30 rounds with at least 70% accuracy.
  • Up to 8 hours of previously completed training recognized by ISP will count towards the 16-hour requirement. Training received in the military by active, retired, or honorably discharged U.S. Armed Services member counts toward the training requirement.
  • Live-Fire Range Exercise:
    • 30 rounds (At least 70% to pass)
What to Bring with You to the Range:
  • Modern Semi-Automatic handgun or Double-Action Revolver
  • MUST BRING Outside the waistband holster and belt
    (NO INSIDE THE WAISTBAND HOLSTERS)
  • Multiple magazines capable of loading 30 rounds of ammo
  • Magazine carrier preferred but not required
  • Eye Protection
  • Ear Protection
  • At least 60 rounds of ammunition
  • Current Drivers' License/State ID
  • Current Illinois FOID Card
  • Bring any non-alcoholic beverage that you may want to consume
  • Any current out of state CCW/CCL license
  • Any Training Certificate, Military/Veteran, or Law Enforcement ID that counts toward Illinois CCL
